Sulphur Point is a thermally active area on the edge of Lake Rotorua, with a trail leading right through the middle of it!
Access the trail off Te Ngae Road just east of Fenton Street, and follow it around the lake edge through fields of steaming vents, and wide views of the lake, bird nesting areas, and more thermal features.
To get the full experience, take the left turn a few hundred metres along the trail, then just follow the path. Don't be tempted to stray off it!
The trail leads back to a bridge on Te Ngae Rd, where you take an underpass and either continue up the cycleway along the stream, which leads eventually to Hemo Gorge and the Waipa Carpark, or head through the redwoods to LongMile Rd.
