TANGAROAMIHI
GRADE: 2 LENGTH: 2.6km
BUILT: 2015
GETTING THERE: At the southern end, from the intersection of Tikitapu/Lakefront roads. Make sure to take the signposted MTB trail. Also, make sure you are on the Entrance...a separate Exit to Tangaroamihi was added in 2019 to make that section of the trail safer. The Exit trail is clearly marked, please do not enter there. There is another trailhead very close which is for walkers only and is a very popular circuit of Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake).
From the northern end, either from the end of Feeder track, or from the grass parking area at Lake Tikitapu. The trailhead at the grass area is close to the toilet block building next to the treeline.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Generally gentle rolling profile through regenerating native bush. A few climbs but nothing too difficult. Ideally suited for kids if they've graduated from Mokupuna Trail - park at the Blue Lake and take them for an out-and-back adventure.
GETTING OUT: As a two way trail you have options. Drop into Te KÅtukutuku or ride along Lakefront and Tikitapu Roads, then into Taura trail to head back to the Eight Mile gate entrance on the Waipa Carpark side of the forest.
